Company News

-Chestertown, Md., February, 5 2010Kent Cabinetry & Millwork, Inc, a custom cabinet and millwork firm in Chestertown, announces that it soon will begin the construction of a new 3700 square foot shop. Their lease at previous location at 206 South Cross Street, has expired, and they had to move to a temporary location at 9944 Fairlee Rd, Chestertown, to where customers can come now with their projects until a new shop is ready to be moved in.

Matt Clark, the owner, has been looking for a site to build for about 16 months, having looked at twelve different locations. The new shop will have a primary location on Rt 213 between Church Hill and Centreville. Several constructions methods have been reviewed, including steel building, pole barns, and standard framing.

A critical factor is to lower overhead expenses and this consideration has driven the design and size. It will be erect to be near zero energy for heating and cooling by using solar power and superior Insulated Wall Panels. Decision to use of solar power for heating and cooling came as a result of previous high energy cost experienced in the last old un-insulated building that their occupied. Solar voltaic panels will provide a near zero electric bill and hopefully will be a prototype for future commercial buildings. Mr. Robert Randall, the design engineer, is an MIT graduate, specializes in zero energy buildings and will be helping on this project. Kent Cabinetry will take an advantage of all the available grants and tax credits in the green energy field.
