We all need a cozy room in our house where we can unwind from a hectic day with a favorite book and listen to sound of cracking firewood. Home library would be perfect for it. We
had homeowners come to us with their own lumber that they have stored for many years,looking forward to a day, when they can use it to make their cabinets out of it.Home Libraries
are types of rooms, where you can use in abundance various
architectural millwork: staked moldings, columns, wainscot paneling,
and valances. You will choose between different shelf edge details which ideally should resemble other moldings used throughout the room. Beaded
face frames, flutes, and decorative moldings add elegance
to the cabinets. Rolling ladder will assist in access to tallest shelves
of the cabinets. Do not ignore windows and ceilings; they can be
also wrapped up in the wood. Window seat can be used for extra storage.
Counter tops can be made out of solid wood or for a cost saving
solution- from the matching plywood. To conclude: brighten-up the
bookshelves with a soft lighting.
Wood species that commonly used in fabrication of home library cabinets - are walnut and cherry. Please keep in mind that not all woods created equally. Some species are soft; misuse of the cabinets can cause unsightly dents. Talk to cabinetmaker first, if you want to use for your home library something other than walnut and cherry.
